Ploch, Warriors Win Judson October Invite

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Junior Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) carded a clubhouse-low 77 and the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team battled windy conditions and a lengthy course to win the Judson October Invite on Monday at Aldeen Golf Club. It was the Warriors' sixth victory of the fall season.

• Top WLC Individual: Joey Ploch (+5), 1st of 37

• Ploch posted the lowest round of the 37-player tournament, totaling a 77 on the par 72 course for medalist honors.
• Junior Solomon Zarling (West Bend, Wis.) placed fourth overall with an 83.
• Juniors Trey Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) and James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) tied for fifth with identical rounds of 85.
• Junior Grant Hammer (Germantown Hills, Ill.) rounded out the Warriors' lineup with a 90. 
• Individually, sophomore Hans Schultz (Ladysmith, Wis.) carded an 89.
• WLC totaled a team score of 328 and finished 14 strokes in front of runner-up Illinois Valley Community College. It was the sixth event win of the season for Wisconsin Lutheran.

• Judging by how much the wind affected the van on the freeway, I could only guess as to how difficult it was for the guys to keep the ball in play today. We played a difficult track from a yardage beyond what we normally see and battled our way to a team win. Any day the team can get a win, one of our players can take medalist, and the other three counting scores finish in the top five is a good day. - Head Coach Adam Volbrecht

• Illinois Valley Community College was runner-up with a team score of 342. Kelly Dobson of Lewis finished second overall with a 79. 

• The Warriors play their final round of the fall season one week from today when they compete in the Edgewood Quad at Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton.
