Warriors Start Spring Season At Pinehurst

PINEHURST, N.C. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team traveled to the Home of Golf to begin its 2020 spring season as they competed against 12 other NCAA Division I teams at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate from Friday-Sunday at Pinehurst Resort. It marked the seventh straight season the Warriors have played historic Pinehurst No. 8 against Division I teams.

• Top WLC Individual: Johnny Kositzky Jr. (+36), T-70th of 81

• Junior Johnny Kositzky Jr. (Escanaba, Mich.) led the Warriors with a three-round 249 86-81-82) to finish tied for 70th in the 81-player field.
• Sophomore Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) totaled a three-day 254 (81-86-87) as he tied Kositzky Jr. for the lowest round team score.
• Sophomores Grant Hammer (Germantown Hills, Ill.) and James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) were within one shot of each other with a 258 and 259, respectively.
• Junior Quinn Schultz (Chaseburg, Wis.) rounded out the team scoring with a 263 and sophomore Trey Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) posted a 275 as an individual.

• Elon topped the 13-team field with a three-round team score of 878 (+26). The Phoenix finished 20 strokes in front of runner-up Davidson. Graham Hutchinson of Elon earned medalist honors by tallying a three-day 213 (71-70-72) to finish atop the 81-player field.

• The Warriors resume their spring season March 28-29 at the Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invitational hosted by Knox. First round play begins at 12:00 p.m. at Soangetaha Country Club.
