Box Score 2 VERONA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Freshman Ashley Corley (Plainfield, Ill.) finished with five hits, two home runs, and six RBI as the Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team swept Edgewood in a two-game series Saturday afternoon at Ceniti Park. The Warriors won game one 9-1 in five innings and claimed game two by a score of 9-5.

- The Warriors offense broke through early, scoring nine runs in the top half of the first inning. The first three batters reached base and freshman Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) drove home the first run with a walk. Senior Maddie Lindemann (Watertown, Wis.) singled through the left side to plate the second run, and another crossed the plate after a hit batter. Singles by freshman Bri Biermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.), junior Aerin Moberg (Wheaton, Ill.), and Corley each plated a runner and a sacrifice fly by junior Katie Scott (Sallisaw, Okla.) capped the nine-run opening frame for WLC.
- Edgewood scored once in the bottom of the second on a two-out single to the shortstop.
- Neither team was able to score again as Wisconsin Lutheran claimed the first game 9-1 in five innings.
- The Warriors finished with eight total hits, as Corley, Lindemann, Biermann, and Moberg each finished with a pair of hits. Corley led the team with two RBI.
- Sophomore Jena Almodovar (Romeoville, Ill.) picked up her third win of the season after allowing one run over five innings and striking out three.
- Corley led off the second game with a home run to left field to give WLC an early 1-0 lead.
- Wisconsin Lutheran extended the lead in the third inning after a stolen base allowed freshman Bre Hoy (McHenry, Ill.) to score on the throw to second base. Corley drove in her second run of the game on a single to left to score freshman Katie Stoltenberg (Lodi, Wis.).
- The Warriors tacked on two more in the top half of the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Hoy and an error by Edgewood. The Eagles responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit down to 5-2.
- The offense continued to find success for WLC as Hoy drove in a run in the fourth on a double to left field. Lindemann scored on a wild pitch to extend Wisconsin Lutheran's advantage to 7-2.
- After junior Avery Davis (Cottleville, Mo.) singled to lead off the top of the fifth, Corley connected on her second home run of the game to add to the Warriors lead.
- The Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and once in the sixth, but were unable to continue the comeback, as the Warriors won 9-5.
- The Warriors finished with 11 hits, with Corley recording three hits and four RBI.
- Freshman Hannah Jordan (Yorkville, Ill.) picked up her second win of the season, allowing two earned runs across five innings. Almodovar closed the game with the final two scoreless innings from the circle.
- Edgewood finished with seven hits in the first game, with Mackenzie Doherty driving in the lone run. Grace Pustina fell to 2-4 in the circle after allowing nine runs over five innings.
- Hanna Fischer and Doherty led the Eagles with two hits apiece in the second game, while Jenna Sanchez drove in two runs. Analiese Glawe was charged with the loss.
