Warriors Shutout By Sabres, 2-0

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team traveled to Fond du Lac on Wednesday night for a NACC match against Marian. The Sabres shutout the Warriors 2-0 at Smith Field.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (1-3-0, 1-3-0 NACC), Marian (2-2-0, 2-2-0 NACC)
• Location: Smith Field, Fond du Lac, Wis.

• The Sabres scored first in the 19th minute as Ashley Welk corralled the ball following a blocked shot attempt and lofted a shot over the keeper from the right side of the box.
• Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Butler (West Allis, Wis.) was able to keep Marian from adding to its lead for the remainder of the first half, finishing with four saves and facing a total of 13 shots.
• Welk scored her second goal of the game and fourth of the season in the 66th minute on a pass from Lillian Giron. After the pass landed in the box, Welk was able to tuck the ball inside the right post with her left foot to extend the Sabres' lead.
• Sophomore Katie Wasiak (Muskego, Wis.) had a chance to score for the Warriors late in the second half, but her shot to the left corner was saved.

• Wisconsin Lutheran recorded six shots and three shots on frame. Wasiak, freshman Signe Kind (Fort Atkinson, Wis.), and junior Maggie Stebbins (Beaver Dam, Wis.) each posted a shot on target.
• Butler finished with seven saves on nine shots on goal across 90 minutes in net.
• WLC finished with seven corner kicks, compared to six for the Sabres.

• Marian attempted 29 shots, with nine landing on target. Welk paced the team with seven shots and recorded a pair of goals. Shannon Coughlin finished with four shots on goal.
• Keeper Kylie Lange recorded the shutout, stopping all three shots on goal she faced.
