Box Score 2 WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Behind a strong pitching performance from sophomore Jena Almodovar (Romeoville, Ill.) in game one, the Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team split a NACC doubleheader against Marian on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors took game one 6-2 after Almodovar tossed a complete game, before the Sabres claimed the second game 6-1.

- The Warriors opened the scoring with three runs in the second inning on four hits. Freshman Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) led off the inning with a triple to left and scored on a single to short by senior Maddie Lindemann (Watertown, Wis.). After a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt, Lindemann scored on a base hit by junior Katie Scott (Sallisaw, Okla.). Freshman Bri Biermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) knocked in the third run on an infield single to second base.
- Marian scored twice in the fourth inning on a double down the left field line to cut WLC's lead to one at 3-2.
- Wisconsin Lutheran answered with three more runs in the fifth inning, each coming with two outs. Freshman Ashley Corley (Plainfield, Ill.) scored on an error and Martin drove home two more with a double to left center.
- The Warriors shut down the Sabres over the final two innings to close out a 6-2 victory.
- Biermann, Martin, and Scott each finished with two hits as WLC posted eight hits as a team. Martin had a team-high two RBI along with a pair of extra-base hits.
- Almodovar improved to 7-7 in the circle after holding the Sabres to one earned run over seven innings.
- The Sabres took a lead in the top of the first inning on a two-out, three-run home run to left field.
- Wisconsin Lutheran got one back in the third inning after a pair of Marian errors allowed Biermann to come around to score.
- In the fourth, the Warriors put the leadoff batter in scoring position on a double by Martin. The Sabres escaped the inning on a pop out and a pair of flyouts to maintain the two-run advantage. WLC threatened to score in the sixth after the first two batters reached base, but Marian navigated the jam with a couple flyouts and strikeout.
- The Sabres extended the lead in the seventh on their second three-run home run of the game.
- Senior Charolette Ropas finished 2-for-3 while the Warriors finished with four hits total.
- Freshman Kacey Mietsner (Elwood, Ill.) was handed the loss after allowing six runs in seven innings in the circle.
- Paige Rauhut was charged with the loss in the first game, throwing six innings and allowing six runs. Katy Croeker finished 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
- Emalee Depa picked up her seventh win of the season after shutting down the Warriors for seven innings. She allowed one unearned run on four hits while striking out seven. Melanie Weigel and Julia Corona each recorded a home run and three RBI.
