WLC Tied For Sixth After NACC Opening Rounds

KOHLER, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team is tied for sixth after the opening two rounds of the NACC Championship played Sunday and Monday at Blackwolf Run Golf Course. Warriors junior James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) turned in the second lowest championship score to the clubhouse on Monday with a 75.

• Michaelson leads the Warriors through two rounds with a two-day 161. His second-round 75 (+3) tied for the second lowest score during Monday's round.
• Senior Johnny Kositzky Jr. (Escanaba, Mich.) is one stroke behind with a 162. Kositzky carded a team-low 77 during Sunday's opening round.
• Junior Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) is tied for 22nd, one stroke back of Kositzky with a 163 (80-83).
• Junior Trey Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) finished the opening rounds with a 166 (81-85), and senior Quinn Schultz (Chaseburg, Wis.) rounded out the top five with a 168 (84-84).
• WLC's two-round 649 (322-327) has them 12 shots back of fourth-place Marian entering next weekend's final rounds.

• Three-time defending league champion Aurora holds a 26-shot lead heading into third and fourth round play next weekend. The Spartans totaled a 602 (298-304) through two rounds. AU's Scott Boyajian leads the 46-player field at two-over 146 (72-74).

• The Warriors play the final two rounds of the NACC Championship next weekend at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Illinois. Third round tee time is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday. A live scoring link will be available at WLCSports.com.
