Box Score 2 PLYMOUTH, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – In a pair of extra inning games, the Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team split a NACC doubleheader against Lakeland on Saturday afternoon at Muskie Softball Field. The Warriors dropped game one 3-2 in eight innings before winning game two 19-11 in eight innings behind a four-hit performance from freshman Katie Stoltenberg (Lodi, Wis.).

- In the first two innings, the Warriors stranded four runners in scoring position as Lakeland pitching navigated through a pair of jams with a flyout and a groundout to keep the game scoreless.
- The Muskies scored twice in the bottom of the third on a pair of two-out RBI singles to left field.
- Wisconsin Lutheran evened the score at 2-2 in the top half of the fifth after junior Aerin Moberg (Wheaton, Ill.) led off with a single and scored on a double by senior Maddie Lindemann (Watertown, Wis.). Sophomore Jena Almodovar (Romeoville, Ill.) plated Lindemann with a RBI groundout to second base.
- Both teams were retired in order the next two innings to send the game to extra frames.
- Lakeland scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a fielder's choice to win 3-2.
- Lindemann finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored to pace WLC's offense. The Warriors totaled seven hits with a pair of extra base hits.
- Almodovar was dealt the loss in the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) across 7.1 innings.
- Wisconsin Lutheran scored twice in the top half of the first on a RBI double to left center by freshman Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) and a RBI single by Stoltenberg.
- The Muskies answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the opening inning to even the score at 2-2.
- In the second, the Warriors regained the lead with three runs. Lindemann drove home two with a single to left field and came around to score on a throwing error by the shortstop. WLC tacked on one more in the third on a RBI groundout by freshman Ashley Corley (Plainfield, Ill.) following a leadoff triple by Stoltenberg.
- Lakeland cut the deficit to one at 6-5 after scoring three runs in the fourth inning. Wisconsin Lutheran got two runs back in the fifth on RBI doubles from Stoltenberg and senior Charolette Ropas (New Berlin, Wis.).
- In the bottom half of the fifth, the Muskies scored six times on seven hits to take an 11-8 lead. The first runs scored on a RBI triple and a RBI single, before a three-run home run to left field put Lakeland in front. One more run scored on a single to center to cap the inning for the hosts.
- WLC tied the game at 11-11 with three runs in the sixth, all coming with two outs. Lindemann and Martin each scored on a pair of wild pitches and junior Avery Blauvelt (Wellman, Iowa) scored the tying run on a throwing error by the catcher.
- After neither team could break the tie in the seventh, the Warriors scored eight runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 19-11 advantage. Corley drove in the go-ahead run to start the rally with a single to center, and two more scored on a single from junior Katie Scott (Sallisaw, Okla.). Moberg drove in one run on an infield single, and Martin plated two with a single to left. The final two runs scored on RBI singles from Almodovar and Stoltenberg.
- Stoltenberg drove in three runs and tallied four hits, including a double and a triple. Martin finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and five runs scored. Wisconsin Lutheran recorded 16 hits and also drew eight walks in the win.
- Almodovar improved to 9-8 on the season with the win, throwing the final five innings of the game.
- Sabrina Wickman finished 2-for-3 in game one with a pair of runs scored, including the game-winner in the eighth inning. In the circle, Leah Binsfeld picked up her third victory after allowing one earned run across eight innings.
- Lakeland tallied 18 hits in game two, including four each from Sabrina Wickman and Sydney Wickman. Hannah Verhunce was charged with the loss after allowing the first two runs in the eighth inning.
