Michaelson's All-NACC Nod Leads Warriors At Championship

AURORA, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Junior James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) fired a final round 75 and tied for 10th overall to earn All-NACC honors as the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team finished eighth at the 2020-2021 NACC Championship which concluded Monday at Stonebridge Country Club. It marks the ninth time in the last 10 years that a Warriors men's golfer has earned all-conference recognition.

  • Michaelson wrapped up the final two rounds with a 153 (78-75) and tied for 10th place in the 43-player finishing field. He played his final nine holes on Monday at one-under.
  • Senior Johnny Kositzky Jr. (Escanaba, Mich.) played his final career rounds at 166 (85-81) and finished in 25th place.
  • Junior Trey Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) posted a 169 (82-87) over his final two rounds for 32nd place, and senior Quinn Schultz (Chaseburg, Wis.) duplicated his opening rounds scoring with a 168 (85-83) in his final career rounds for 33rd.
  • Juniors Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) and Grant Hammer (Germantown Hills, Ill.) each played one round, posting scores of 82 and 84, respectively. 
  • WLC finished eighth in the 10-team field with a four-round 1,299 (322-327-327-323).

  • Aurora won its fourth consecutive NACC Championship with a four-round 1,213. The Spartans won the title by 26 shots over runner-up Edgewood. AU's Jack Vercautren earned medalist and was named NACC Player of the Year after his four-round 296 (71-76-72-77). 

  • The final two rounds of the NACC Championship mark the final competition of the season for the Warriors, who return nine players to next year's lineup.
