Warriors Overcome Early Deficit, Hold Off IIT For 2-1 Win

CHICAGO, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team overcame an early 1-0 deficit with two goals of their own in the first half, as the Warriors held off host Illinois Tech 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Stuart Field. It marks WLC's third 2-0 start in conference play in the last four seasons.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (4-3-0, 2-0-0 NACC), Illinois Tech (2-5-0, 0-2-0 NACC)

• The Scarlet Hawks took an early 1-0 lead over the Warriors in the 6th minute of the match on their first shot on frame.
• WLC freshman Nate Wenzel (Lake Zurich, Ill.) knotted the contest at 1-1 in the 16th minute for his first career goal.
• Junior Trevor Millonzi (Jackson, Wis.) gave Wisconsin Lutheran a 2-1 advantage in the 30th minute on an assist from senior Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.). It was his third goal of the season.
• Freshman Bryce Beckley (Waterford, Wis.) made three saves in the first half to maintain the lead for the visitors.
• Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half, but Beckley kept Illinois Tech off the board by making five more stops.
• Cano led the Green and White with five shots, while Millonzi put all three of his shots on target.
