WLC Overpowers Alverno For First NACC Win

Bartlett, Bluhm score three goals apiece

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College snapped a five-match losing streak with an 8-0 win over Alverno on Saturday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (3-8-0, 1-5-0 NACC), who won their first NACC match of the season, scored four goals in each half en route to their win over the Inferno (0-8-1, 0-6-0 NACC).

WLC scored early in the fifth minute of the match on a goal from freshman Emilie Bartlett (Olathe, Kan.), assisted by junior Peyton Killberg (Racine, Wis.). Freshman Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) gave the hosts a 2-0 lead in the 18th minute when she scored unassisted.

Four minutes later, senior Desareih Juarez (Waukegan, Ill.) found the back of the net for the first time this season, aided by an assist from freshman Elle Doninger (Grayslake, Ill.). Bluhm capped the first-half scoring in the 34th minute with her second goal of the match for a 4-0 Wisconsin Lutheran halftime advantage.

Doninger netted her first score of the season in the 49th minute off a Bartlett assist. Bartlett (67', 86') and Bluhm (75') accounted for the final three Warriors tallies over the final 23 minutes of the match.

WLC accumulated 48 shots and 11 corner kicks in the contest. Bluhm accounted for a school-record 18 of those shot attempts. Junior goalkeeper Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) did not face in shot in the match to collect the shutout win.

Wisconsin Lutheran remains home on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. NACC match against Lakeland (3-8-0, 0-6-0 NACC). Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
