Bartlett's Brace Lifts Wisconsin Lutheran To Second Straight Win

WLC wins seventh straight match over Muskies

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Freshman Emilie Bartlett (Olathe, Kan.) scored two goals and freshman Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) netted her team-leading 12th goal of the season to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 3-0 win over Lakeland on Wednesday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (4-8-0, 2-5-0 NACC), who won their second straight game and seventh straight over the Muskies (3-9-0, 0-7-0 NACC), grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute on Bluhm's team-leading 12th strike of the season.

Bartlett netted her first score of the game in the 25th minute off an assist from senior Elena Velasquez (Milwaukee, Wis.) for a 2-0 WLC halftime lead. Both team tallied nine shots apiece in the opening period.

Bartlett again accounted for the only scoring of the second half in the 53rd minute on another assist from Velasquez. Wisconsin Lutheran held a slim 12-10 edge in shots in the second half.

The Warriors out-shot LU 21-19, including 12-10 on goal, and clipped Lakeland 3-2 in corner kicks.

Bluhm and Bartlett recorded five shots each to lead WLC and junior goalkeeper Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) made 10 saves.

Hanna Brouch had nine of the Muskies' 19 shots and Haley Rich registered nine saves.

Wisconsin Lutheran travels to Montgomery, Illinois on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. NACC contest against Aurora (4-5-3, 3-4-0 NACC). Live coverage links will be available for the match at WLCSports.com.
