Bedolla's Late Equalizer Sends Men's Soccer To 1-1 Draw

Warriors record fourth tie of the season

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Junior Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.) scored in the 87th minute to send Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 1-1 tie with Benedictine on Wednesday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (8-3-4, 5-2-3 NACC) snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Eagles (6-6-4, 5-3-2 NACC) with their fourth tie of the season.

WLC and BenU played through a scoreless first half of action, with the hosts edging the visitors 6-5 in shots including 3-1 in shots on target.

The intensity increased in the second half for both teams, who each had one shot on frame through the first 40 minutes.

Benedictine broke through at the 85:33 mark on a goal by Michal Szaflarski following a free kick from Omar Barragan. Wisconsin Lutheran wasted little time responding as Bedolla finished off an assist from freshman Jack Leffel (Germantown, Wis.) just 0:32 seconds later to knot the match at 1-1.

The Eagles had once last chance on a corner kick with just 0:04 seconds left, but Warriors' junior goalkeeper Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) made a leaping save as time expired to keep the match knotted at 1-1.

Bedolla, who found the back of the net for the fourth time this season, collected a team-high six of WLC's 13 shots in the match. Leffel record his first career assist. Galvan stopped three shots, including two in the second half.

Six players posted two shots apiece for BenU, which finished the match with 14 shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Sergio Valencia made four saves.

Wisconsin Lutheran travels to Loves Park, Illinois on Saturday for an 11 a.m. NACC match against Rockford (4-8-4, 2-7-1 NACC). Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
