LISLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College couldn't recover from an early deficit in a 5-3 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference loss to Benedictine on Wednesday at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex.
The Eagles (6-9-2, 3-5-2 NACC) scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match from Kailyn Knudson and Kiara McPherson to grab an early advantage over the Warriors (4-11-1, 1-8-1 NACC).
Sophomore
Xiomara Garcia (Milwaukee, Wis.) put WLC on the scoreboard in the 30th minute with her second goal of the season to cut the deficit in half, but BenU added one more score before intermission on a Lyric Jones goal.
Jenni Garcia gave Benedictine a 4-1 lead in the 53rd minute, before freshman
Emilie Bartlett (Olathe, Kan.) responded with back-to-back goals in the 55th and 59th minutes on assists from sophomore
Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) to bring Wisconsin Lutheran within one.
Garcia capped the scoring for the Eagles in the 74th minute with her second score of the match.
Bartlett had four of the Warriors' nine shots to lead the team. Junior
Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) made nine saves across 90 minutes in net.
Kiara McPherson tallied six shots to lead BenU, which finished with 21 for the match.
