Wisconsin Lutheran Fit To Be Tied On Senior Night

WLC overcomes two-goal deficit, eliminated from postseason contention

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College battled back from a two-goal deficit late in the first half for a 2-2 Senior Night draw with NACC co-champion MSOE on Wednesday at Warriors Soccer Field. Despite just two conference losses, WLC was eliminated from NACC Tournament contention.

The Warriors (9-3-5, 6-2-4 NACC), who ran their unbeaten streak to five games, fell behind 1-0 on an eighth-minute goal from the Raiders' (12-2-4, 7-2-3 NACC) Zach Thompson. MSOE made it 2-0 in the 15th minute when Freddy Comparato scored off an assist from Michael Rohrman.

Junior Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.) cut the deficit in half with just 0:30 seconds remaining before halftime when he scored his fifth goal of the season, giving WLC some much-needed momentum heading into intermission.

Junior Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) stopped three shots through the first 18 minutes of the second half to keep Wisconsin Lutheran within striking distance. In the 63rd minute, Bedolla converted a penalty kick after freshman Victor Moreno (Racine, Wis.) was fouled inside the box to even the contest at 2-2.

Galvan turned away three more shots on goal from the Raiders and the three remaining shots from the Warriors couldn't find their way on frame.

Bedolla and senior Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) had three shots apiece for WLC, which finished with nine shots and three corner kicks. Galvan concluded the contest with eight saves.

Wisconsin Lutheran, which went unbeaten at home this season, honored seven seniors during halftime of the match. They included Joel Migliaccio (Muskego, Wis.), Brady Wirkes (Green Bay, Wis.), Josh Sepic (Mukwonago, Wis.), KJ McNealey Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis.), Cano, Joseph Raasch (Germantown, Wis.), and Cory Ralston (Batesville, Ind.).

Connor Dees, Zach Thompson, and Kilian Oelrich had three shots each for MSOE, which tabulated 19 shots and seven corner kicks.

The Warriors play their final match of the 2022 season on Saturday when they face Maranatha Baptist (4-9-1) at 3 p.m. in Watertown. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
