Warriors Score Early, Often In Road Win Over Lakeland

Cano scores two more goals in road triumph

PLYMOUTH, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College scored five goals for the third time this season in a 5-1 NACC road win over Lakeland on Wednesday at Taylor Field.

The Warriors (7-2-2, 4-1-1 NACC), who matched their win total from a season ago, defeated the Muskies (2-6-3, 0-6-1 NACC) for the 10th time in their last 11 meetings.

WLC wasted little time finding the back of the net as senior KJ McNealey Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored his eighth goal of the season just 0:38 seconds into the match for a 1-0 lead. Senior Joel Migliaccio (Muskego, Wis.) assisted on the score.

Senior Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute and an own goal gave Wisconsin Lutheran a 3-0 lead in the 30th minute. The Warriors doubled up LU 10-5 in first-half shots.

WLC added its fourth goal of the match in the 68th minute on senior Joseph Raasch's (Germantown, Wis.) fifth score of the year, and Cano capped the scoring with his 12th goal of the campaign in the 77th minute. Junior Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.) assisted on both second-half tallies.

Michael Barragan converted a penalty kick for Lakeland in the 89th minute to avoid the shutout.

Wisconsin Lutheran out-shot the Muskies 18-12, including 10-4 in shots on goal. LU held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. Cano led the Warriors with five shots, while Raasch finished with four. Junior Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) made three saves in just over 83 minutes in net.

Carson Galla made five saves in net for Lakeland.

WLC travels to Montgomery, Illinois on Saturday for a 1 p.m. NACC contest against Aurora (5-1-5, 4-0-2 NACC). Live coverage links will be available for the pivotal conference match at WLCSports.com.
