Aurora Edges Wisconsin Lutheran, 2-1

Cano nets 13th goal of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was edged by Aurora, 2-1, on Saturday in a battle of two of the NACC's top teams at Spartan Athletic Park.

The Spartans (6-1-5, 5-0-2 NACC), who remain the conference's lone unbeaten team, scored a pair of first-half goals to take the early advantage over the Warriors (7-3-2, 4-2-1 NACC).

AU's Enrique Gonzalez scored in the 16th minute on an assist from Eduardo Carrillo. Fourteen minutes later, Nick Willner found of the back of the net on an assist from Anthony Marmolejo.

WLC's only shot on frame in the first half landed in the back of the net. Senior Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) netted his 13th goal of the season in the 40th minute, assisted by senior Joseph Raasch (Germantown, Wis.) and junior Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.).

Wisconsin Lutheran couldn't find the equalizer in the second half, as both of its shots on target were saved by Aurora goalkeeper Jalen Depenbrock.

The Warriors finished the match with seven shots, including three from Cano. Junior Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) made seven saves in 90 minutes in net.

Gonzalez tallied six of the Spartans' 14 shots in the game. Both teams had a pair of corner kicks, coming in the second half.
