Box Score 2 PLYMOUTH, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's volleyball team made history on Thursday night, winning its first set in program history during its second match of a non-conference doubleheader against Lakeland inside the Woltzen Gymnasium. The Warriors dropped the first match 3-0 before falling 3-1 to the Muskies in the nightcap.

- The opening set of the first match was back-and-forth in the beginning as it featured five ties and two lead changes. The Warriors erased an 8-6 deficit with five straight points. WLC built a match-high six-point lead at 23-17, but the Muskies avoided set point for Wisconsin Lutheran and fought back for a 27-25 first set win.
- The Green and White held a 4-2 lead early in the second set, but four straight points from LU gave them a lead that they would never relinquish. The Warriors tied the contest twice after that and trailed 22-18 late, but Lakeland had the final answer with the last three points for a 25-18 set two win.
- WLC led 3-2 early in the third set, but a 6-0 scoring run from the Muskies put them ahead 8-3. The hosts led by as many as 13 points before coming away with a 25-13 victory in set three.
- Junior Joe Flett (St. Anthony, Minn.) and senior Logan Ascher (Waukesha, Wis.) recorded four kills each for Wisconsin Lutheran. Freshman Jay Thammavongsa (Franklin, Wis.) recorded 12 assists and sophomore Logan Gryzwa (Delafield, Wis.) collected 10 digs.
- LU pulled away in the first set of the second match after five ties and turned a four-point lead into a 13-point advantage with a late 9-0 run. Lakeland won the first set 25-12.
- The Green and White turned a 10-6 deficit into a 14-11 set two lead following a kill from freshman James Biedenbender (La Crosse, Wis.). The Warriors never let go of their lead, extending it to as many as five points before hanging on for a historic 25-21 win.
- WLC fell behind 11-1 in the third set and could get no closer than eight points as the Muskies took a 2-1 lead after a 25-11 set three victory.
- Wisconsin Lutheran was unable to gain a lead in the fourth set but trailed just 10-9 before a five-point run by LU. Lakeland closed out the match with the final five points for a 25-15 win in the fourth set.
- Flett finished with five kills, while Thammavongsa and sophomore Isaac Stellick (Taichung, Taiwan) had six and five assists apiece. Thammavongsa and freshman Ben Thoma (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) registered six digs each.
