WLC Drops Non-Conference Tilt To North Park

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to non-conference opponent North Park on Friday night inside the Recreation Complex. The Warriors posted a positive hitting percentage for the third time in their young history.

• Final Score: North Park 3, Wisconsin Lutheran 0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-13)

• The Warriors scored the first point of the opening set and saw the match tied at 4-4 after a service ace from sophomore Grant Wempner (Garden Grove, Calif.). WLC trailed 14-12 before the Vikings went on a late run and scored the final seven points of the set for a 25-14 win.
• North Park jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the second set and built its first double-digit lead at 16-6. Wisconsin Lutheran couldn't climb any closer than nine points as NPU won the second set 25-13.
• The Green and White tied the third set at 4-4 and trailed 15-10 before the Vikings surged ahead for a 23-11 lead. The Warriors dropped the third set 25-13.
• Junior Joe Flett (St. Anthony, Minn.) and sophomore Logan Gryzwa (Delafield, Wis.) led WLC with five kills apiece. Freshman Jay Thammavongsa (Franklin, Wis.) dished out 16 assists. Flett, sophomore Matthew Miskowski (La Crosse, Wis.), and freshman James Biedenbender (La Crosse, Wis.) tallied four digs apiece.
• The Warriors tied a program record with 16 kills and hit .077 in the match.

• The Warriors are home again on Sunday morning for a pair of non-conference matches against UC Santa Cruz (1-8). The first match against the Banana Slugs begins at 9 a.m. with live stats and video links available at WLCSports.com.
