CLERMONT, Fla. (WLCSports.com) – Sophomore Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) belted two home runs over two games, but the Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team dropped a pair of games on Tuesday afternoon at The Spring Games at Legends Way Ballfields. • The Royals erupted for four runs on three hits in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead.
  • Scranton added single tallies in both the third and fourth innings to lead 6-1 after four innings of play.
  • Martin launched a two-out solo home run to left, her third of the week, in the fifth inning to bring WLC to within 6-2.

  • The Storm threatened in the first inning after loading the bases with just one out, but Almodovar escaped with a strikeout and a groundout. After a leadoff single in the first from Wilson and a sacrifice bunt, Martin doubled to left field to give WLC an early lead. Martin then came around to score on an RBI single from senior Katie Scott (Sallisaw, Okla.) to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
  • Simpson knotted the score at 2-2 in the next half inning with a two-run single. The Storm added another pair in the third on four hits to lead 4-2.
  • WLC threatened in the third but left a pair of baserunners stranded. Both offenses remained quiet until Simpson exploded for eight runs on eight hits, including two home runs, in the top of the sixth to push its lead to 12-2.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran rallied with four runs on five hits in the sixth. Martin led off the inning with her second home run of the day and fourth of the season, a solo shot to center field. After the Green and White loaded the bases with no outs, an RBI single by sophomore Briana Vilches (Fontana, Calif.) and RBI groundout from freshman Bella Simmons (Milwaukee, Wis.) cut the Storm's lead to 12-6 as another run scored on a throwing error.
  • The Warriors' offense broke out for 11 hits and was paced by three hits each from Martin and Wilson.
