Four Shots Separate WLC From First At Spring Invite

WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's golf team finished just four shots out of first place in a tight field of teams on Saturday afternoon at the WLC Spring Invitational. The Warriors shot a 313 to finish sixth out of 12 teams at the one-day event played at Morningstar Golfer's Club.

  • Top WLC Individual: Solomon Zarling (+3), T-6th of 72

  • Senior Solomon Zarling (West Bend, Wis.) tied for sixth place in the 72-player field to lead the Warriors with a three-over 75. Zarling bounced back from a four-over on the front nine with a one-under on the back nine.
  • Senior James Michaelson (Crystal Lake, Ill.) came into the clubhouse with a six-over 78 to tie for 21st. Fellow senior Joey Ploch (Oconomowoc, Wis.) was one shot back of Michaelson with a 79. Ploch posted a one-over on the back nine to finish his round strong.
  • Senior Grant Hammer (Germantown Hills, Ill.) carded an 81 to tie for 32nd. 
  • Senior Trey Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) rounded out the lineup for Wisconsin Lutheran with an 85.

  • The Warriors compete at the Carthage Spring Invitational on Tuesday at Kenosha Country Club in Kenosha. Tee time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
