Softball Swept By Maroons On The Road

CHICAGO, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team was held to five hits over two games of a non-conference doubleheader sweep to Chicago on Thursday afternoon at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field. The Maroons defeated the Warriors by scores of 8-0 and 3-1.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (8-19), Chicago (14-11)
• Location: Amos Alonzo Stagg Field, Chicago, Ill.

• The Maroons turned four first-inning hits and error into six runs to quickly take an early 6-0 lead at the bottom of the first.
• Both teams went scoreless in the second, but UC added on with a two-run, three-hit inning to take an 8-0 lead after three.
• The game ended via run rule after four and a half innings as both teams remained scoreless over the final two frames.
• Freshman Makayla Huff (Galesburg, Ill.) and sophomore Bri Biermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) led the Warriors' offense with two singles in the game.

• The Maroons scored early in game two with two hits that turned into a pair of runs for a two-run lead after the first inning.
• After both teams posted scoreless frames the next two innings, sophomore Bre Hoy (McHenry, Ill.) hit her second homerun of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1.
• Chicago countered in the fifth with an insurance run making the final score 3-1 in favor of the hosts.
• WLC's offense produced three hits but left five runners on base.
• Freshman Melissa Tonn (West Allis, Wis.) tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings of relief. 

• The Warriors return home on Saturday for a NACC doubleheader against Aurora (23-5, 11-3 NACC) at Neumann Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. Live coverage links will be available for both games at WLCSports.com.
