WLC Engineers Upset Of 16th-Ranked MSOE

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Freshman Callie Terrill (Minooka, Ill.) pitched a complete game and three players collected two hits apiece as the Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team upset 16th-ranked MSOE 6-5 on Monday in game one of their resumed NACC doubleheader at MSOE Athletic Field. The Raiders took the nightcap from the Warriors, 2-0.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (10-25, 3-18 NACC); MSOE (24-8, 17-7 NACC)

• Sophomore Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) put the Warriors on the board in the first inning with a RBI double that brought home freshman Faith Ottens (Fulton, Ill.). The Raiders responded with a two-out, two-run homerun in the bottom of the opening inning for a one-run lead.
• WLC took the lead right back in the second inning on a RBI single by sophomore Bri Biermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and a MSOE throwing error that allowed freshman Jackey Farias (San Diego, Calif.) to cross home plate. 
• The Raiders once again answered with another two-out, two-RBI double in their half of the second for a 4-3 lead.
• Following a scoreless third, Wisconsin Lutheran evened the contest at 4-4 in the fourth on a RBI double from Farias that drove home sophomore Bre Hoy (McHenry, Ill.).
• Senior Katie Scott (Sallisaw, Okla.) delivered a two-out RBI single in the fifth that sent home freshman Olivia Krieser (Stoughton, Wis.) for a 5-4 advantage.
• The Green and White added a single tally to its total for the third straight inning in the sixth when senior Gracie Wilson's (Deerfield, Wis.) two-out single scored freshman Bella Simmons (Milwaukee, Wis.) to make it 6-4 in favor of the Warriors.
• MSOE scored a two-out unearned run in the seventh and left the tying run stranded at third for a 6-5 WLC victory.
• Martin, Scott, and Hoy finished with three hits each for Wisconsin Lutheran in game one.
• Terrill tossed her fourth complete game of the season, picking up her third win as she allowed four earned runs and struck out three.

• The Raiders drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Warriors.
• WLC placed a runner in scoring position in both the second and fifth inning after drawing walks, but was unable to manufacture a run.
• Wisconsin Lutheran mustered its first and only hit of the game when Wilson leadoff the sixth inning with a single to center. Unfortunately, she was left stranded at first.
• MSOE added an insurance run in the sixth on a RBI groundout and the Green and White were retired in order in the seventh for the 2-0 final.
• Sophomore Kacey Meitsner (Elwood, Ill.) and freshman Melissa Tonn (West Allis, Wis.) combined to allow just four hits in the circle.
