WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 non-conference sweep to the Carroll Pioneers in its season opener on Thursday night inside Van Male Fieldhouse.Â
The Warriors were in it early, as the opening set went back and forth. WLC got senior
Jenna Charron (Appleton, Wis.) going with two early kills, jumping out to a 5-4 lead. The teams continued to battle, and after a kill from freshman
Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.), Wisconsin Lutheran knotted the set at 13-13. The Pioneers quickly retaliated, scoring four straight points which helped them to a 25-21 opening set victory.

The second set mirrored the first, with the Warriors and Pioneers battling for 16 ties and nine lead changes throughout the set. A kill from senior
Rebecca Chavez (Chicago, Ill.) evened the score at 19-19. CU overcame a 20-19 deficit and took the second set by a score of 25-22.
Carroll went up early on WLC in the third set, jumping out to a 5-1 lead. Wisconsin Lutheran fought back to grab two-point leads of 10-8 and 14-12. The hosts rallied for seven straight points for a five-point lead and the Green and White would get no closer than two points the rest of the way, falling 25-20 in the third set.Â

Charron paced the Warriors with a match-high 13 kills on the night. Senior
Emily Sarles (Lombard, Ill.) chipped in with 16 assists, and sophomore
Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) led the team with 14 digs.Â
