DUBUQUE, Iowa (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at the UD River City Classic hosted by Dubuque inside the Stoltz Sports Center.
The Warriors opened play with a tough 3-2 loss to North Central (Ill.) (3-0), falling 25-14, 23-25, 25-27, 25-15, 15-8. WLC then dropped a 3-0 decision to host Dubuque (2-2) by scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-18.
Wisconsin Lutheran tallied 48 kills on 148 attempts in the hard fought five-set match against the Cardinals. Senior
Jenna Charron (Appleton, Wis.) and sophomore
Amahra Matthai (Plover, Wis.) led WLC with 13 and nine kills, respectively. Sophomore
Karah Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) chipped in 14 assists and 11 digs for a double-double. Sophomore
Courtney Andras (Oxford, Mich.) served up five aces.Â
Against the Spartans, the Warriors had 29 kills on 114 total attempts. Charron paced WLC with 10 kills and senior
Rebecca Chavez (Chicago, Ill.) added seven. Sophomore
Emma Incaprero (Mauston, Wis.) dished out 13 assists, while sophomore
Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) led the team with 15 digs.
