MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College wrapped up a busy weekend with an impressive sweep over Monmouth on Saturday at the Time of Grace Center.
The Warriors (2-4) swept the Fighting Scots (2-5) by scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-16. WLC hit .293 for the match, recording 40 kills with just 13 errors on 92 attempts.
Wisconsin Lutheran got going early, scoring eight straight points, leading Monmouth 14-6. The Warriors didn't look back, taking set one 25-13.
The second set started as a back-and-forth battle, until junior
Elise Meier (Watertown, Wis.) rattled off six straight serves, giving the Warriors a 20-12 lead. The hosts continued on for a 25-19 set two victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran dominated the third set, using an 11-0 run to break open a 4-3 deficit en route to a 25-16 win.
Seniors
Jenna Charron (Appleton, Wis.),
Rebecca Chavez (Chicago, Ill.), and freshman
Cassie Patchett (Appleton, Wis.) led the Warriors with seven kills each. Senior
Emily Sarles (Lombard, Ill.) dished out 18 assists, while sophomore
Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) had 16 digs.
