Wisconsin Lutheran Upended By Cardinals, Fighting Saints

WLC finishes fall season with 0-4 record

LISLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was handed a pair of 9-0 defeats on Sunday against non-conference opponents North Central and St. Francis at Benet Academy Tennis Courts.

The Cardinals (2-0) collected three wins in doubles play over the Warriors (0-4) by scores of 8-5, 8-3, 8-2. NCC won five of six singles matches in straight sets from WLC. Junior Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) pushed his opponent to three sets at No. 6, but came up short 6-2, 1-6 1-0 (10-6).

The Fighting Saints (1-1) took all three doubles matches from Wisconsin Lutheran by scores of 8-4, 8-5, 8-3. USF also won four singles matches in straight sets. Junior Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) and freshman Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) battled their opponents to three sets at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, but fell short. Halvorsen suffered a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 setback, while Heezen was upended 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.

The Warriors return to the courts in the spring for their conference season, which starts March 19 at Concordia Wisconsin.
