Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a pair of non-conference dual matches on the road Saturday to host Cornell and Northwestern at Small Sport Center Arena in its first two matches of the spring season.
The Warriors (0-6) fell to the host Rams (2-1) in their first match of the day by an 8-1 score. CC claimed two close wins at No. 1 (8-6) and No. 2 (8-7) doubles before WLC's No. 3 team of freshman
Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) and senior
Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) won 8-5. Cornell collected tight victories at all six singles flights, but not before Hennen came up short in a three-set battle at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 7-5, 12-10.
The Red Raiders (4-1) defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 9-0 in the second match of the afternoon. NC won 8-4, 8-0, 8-2 in doubles competition and won all six matches in singles play.
The Warriors host UW-Stevens Point (1-6) next Friday, February 10 for a 12 p.m. non-conference dual at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club in Jackson.
