RIVER FOREST, Ill. (WLCSports.com) -Â Wisconsin Lutheran College battled Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference perennial power Dominican to a 4-2 setback on Saturday at West Campus Field.
The Warriors (7-6-1, 4-6-0 NACC) scored their most goals in a matchup with the five-time defending NACC champion Stars (6-6-4, 5-3-2 NACC) since 2005.
DU grabbed a 1-0 lead over WLC in the 6th minute on a goal from Sophia Bartridge assisted by Alexandria Canarelli. Wisconsin Lutheran evened the contest at 1-1 in the 30th minute on junior
Adlin Sanchez Cordero's (Milwaukee, Wis.) fifth goal of the season. The score remained knotted at 1-1 at halftime.
Ten minutes into the second half, Canarelli gave Dominican a 2-1 lead behind an assist from Mia Tauilahu. Bartridge then boosted the Stars' lead to 3-1 in the 59th minute.
Freshman
Aubrey Arnold (Kiel, Wis.) netted her first career goal in the 71st minute to bring the Warriors within one. A penalty kick from DU's Grace Larson in the 89th minute accounted for the 4-2 final result.
Sanchez Cordero collected four of WLC's six shots in the contest. Senior
Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) made a season-high eight saves.
