CUW Comes Back To Top WLC In Four Sets

Stevens' season-high 11 kills leads Warriors

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College took the opening set from an opponent for the 10th time this season, but Concordia Wisconsin rallied back for a 3-1 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win on Thursday at the Time of Grace Center.

The Warriors (8-15, 4-7 NACC) fell to the Falcons (14-11, 9-2 NACC) in four sets by scores of 21-25, 26-24, 25-13, 25-20. WLC held a 23-19 lead in the second set, but CUW clawed back with seven of the last eight points. 

Freshman Margie Stevens (Oneida, Wis.) recorded a team-high 11 kills for Wisconsin Lutheran, which hit .040 on 37 kills, 32 errors, and 125 attempts. Sophomore Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.) added seven kills.

Junior Emma Incaprero (Mauston, Wis.) led the Warriors with 21 assists, and junior Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) tallied three service aces. Defensively, Gnabasik and Wigley tied a team-high with 11 digs apiece. Sophomore Bailey Halliburton (Germantown, Wis.) posted a team-high four block assists, while Stevens and sophomore Hannah Vriezen (Marion, Iowa) added three block assists apiece.

The Warriors play their final home match of the season on Saturday when they host Rockford (7-14, 2-9 NACC) for Senior Day at 12 p.m. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
