WLC Blanks Benedictine On Senior Day, 4-0

First win over Eagles since 2005

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College bounced back from consecutive road losses with a 4-0 Senior Day shutout over Benedictine on Saturday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (7-4-1, 4-4-0 NACC), who honored their eight seniors during a pregame ceremony, picked up their first win over the Eagles (4-7-2, 4-4-0 NACC) since 2005.

Sophomore Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) put WLC on the board in the 7th minute when she finished off a loose ball into the bottom center of the net.

Five minutes later, senior Signe Kind (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) netted her first goal of the season after finding the bottom far corner of the net from Bluhm for a 2-0 advantage. Wisconsin Lutheran, which outshot BenU 6-5 in the opening half, held onto its 2-0 lead at halftime.

Bluhm tallied her fifth point of the match and 13th goal of the year in the 69th minute of the second half when split through two defenders and found the center of the net from close range.

Junior Ella Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo.) capped the scoring in the 84th minute when she scored directly off her own corner kick for her third goal of the season.

The Warriors controlled both the shot count (23-8) and corner kicks (7-1). Bluhm led all players with nine shots, while senior Katie Wasiak (Muskego, Wis.) added five. Senior Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) made four saves to notch her second shutout of the season.

WLC hits the road for two games next week, first traveling to De Pere on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. matchup against St. Norbert (7-4-2, 5-1-1 NACC). Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
