FORT MYERS, Fla. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College received a pair of solid pitching performances in its season-opening doubleheader on Sunday, but fell to Skidmore by scores 2-0 and 6-2 at Terry Park.
The Warriors (0-2) escaped a bases-loaded jam with nobody out in the second inning, allowing just a run. The Thoroughbreds (3-2) added a single tally on a home run in the third for a 2-0 lead. WLC put a pair of runners on base in the seventh, as juniors
Connor Donohue (Missoula, Mont.) and
Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas) singled with one out, but a pair of strikeouts ended the game.Â

Andrew Muffler (Waukesha, Wis.) pitched 6.0 innings with five strikeouts and five hits allowed in his first start of the season. Senior

Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.), and freshman
Eli Michaelis (Wauwatosa, Wis.) each had one hit in the game for Wisconsin Lutheran.
SC plated four unearned runs on three hits in the first inning for a 4-0 lead. The Warriors responded with a single score in the bottom of the first as freshman
Tim Frerking (Oconomowoc, Wis.) drew a bases loaded walk with one out that brought home senior
Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.).
WLC cut the deficit in half in the second on a single from Dominick that plated sophomore
Elijah Shevey (Muskego, Wis.). Skidmore tacked on single runs in the fifth and seventh innings for what proved to be the final 6-2 score.

Tyler Danko (Milwaukee, Wis.) didn't allow an earned run over five innings with five strikeouts.Â
