FORT MYERS, Fla. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College fell victim to a high-powered opposing offense in a 15-7 non-conference loss to Franklin & Marshall on Monday at Terry Park.
The Diplomats (6-8) scored four first-inning runs on three hits and two miscues for the early advantage. The Warriors (0-3) loaded the bases in their half of the first with a single and two walks, but stranded all three runners with consecutive strikeouts.
F&M added a single run in the second, but left the bases loaded for a 5-0 lead. WLC responded with two runs in the bottom of the second. After three straight walks, sophomore
Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.) scored on an error and junior
Henry Strupp (Watertown, Wis.) plated the second run on a walk drawn by senior
Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.).
Wisconsin Lutheran tacked on another run in the third with a two-out single from Dominick that allowed freshman
Lucas Oswald (Muskego, Wis.) to cross home plate. The Warriors stranded the bases loaded as the inning ended.
Franklin & Marshall put together another four-run frame on six hits for a 9-3 lead in the fourth inning. Dominick drew another walk with the bases loaded in the fifth for WLC's fourth run of the game. The Diplomats plated four runs again in the seventh and single tallies in the eighth and ninth for their final runs of the game.Â
After leaving the bases full in the eighth, WLC didn't go away easily in the ninth as it scored three times on a single from sophomore
Tyler Danko (Milwaukee, Wis.) and two runs came across when junior
Jake Sillan (Castle Rock, Colo.) reached on an error.Â
Dominick led Wisconsin Lutheran with three hits and three RBI. The Warriors drew 14 walks in the game but stranded 16 runners on base.Â
