Baseball Wraps Up Spring Trip With Blue Devils

Raabe records four hits, including a home run

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College wrapped up its spring break trip at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic with a 9-5 loss to UW-Stout on Friday at Terry Park. Senior Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.) had four hits and homered for the Warriors.

WLC (1-6) started the scoring in the top of the second with one run off of consecutive doubles from Raabe and sophomore Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.). UWS (7-1) followed with three runs of its own in the bottom of the second off two hits but left pair of runners on base. Wisconsin Lutheran added another run in the top of the fourth on a home run to deep right from Raabe.

The Blue Devils plated two more runs in the bottom of the seventh off of four hits but left two stranded on base. Wisconsin Lutheran had its first four batters reach base in the eighth as senior Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.) singled, junior Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas) walked, Raabe had a RBI single, and Zaccanti singled. Junior Henry Strupp (Watertown, Wis.) also added a one-out, run-scoring single to trim the gap to just one run at 5-4, but the Warriors left the bases loaded. UW-Stout came out swinging in the bottom of the eighth scoring four runs off of five hits. WLC scored one final run in the top of the ninth on a sac fly from Engelhardt that plated freshman Eli Michaelis (Wauwatosa, Wis.).

Raabe led Wisconsin Lutheran going 4-for-5 with two RBI, two runs, and a home run. Zaccanti and Strupp posted two hits and one RBI apiece. Junior Andrew Muffler (Waukesha, Wis.) pitched the first three innings of the game and fanned five. Sophomore Tyler Danko (Milwaukee, Wis.) tossed three scoreless relief innings, striking out five and giving up just two hits.

WLC is scheduled to host Northland (1-7) in a four-game non-conference series on Friday and Saturday at Neumann Family Field. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
