JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College started a busy three-match weekend with a 6-3 non-conference win over Ripon on Friday at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club.
The Warriors (7-9), who won their fourth straight match, trailed the Red Hawks (3-9) 2-1 after doubles competition. Senior
Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) and freshman
Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) picked up WLC's lone win during doubles with an 8-4 victory at No. 3.
Wisconsin Lutheran controlled singles play by winning matches at five of the six positions. Sophomore
Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) netted a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1. Freshman
Zadic Torline (Shawnee, Kan.) triumphed 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3. Junior
Bryce Halvorsen (Kewaskum, Wis.) survived a three-set battle at No. 4 with a 5-7, 7-6, 14-12 victory. Hennen and Heezen posted straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6, winning 6-3, 6-3 and 6-0, 7-5, respectively.
The Warriors continue their busy weekend tomorrow with a 5 p.m. NACC match against Lakeland (0-4, 0-4 NACC) at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club.Â
