Wisconsin Lutheran Rolls Past Lakeland

WLC extends winning streak to five

JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College extended its winning streak to five matches while remaining unbeaten in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference after a 9-0 sweep over Lakeland on Saturday at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club.

The Warriors (8-9, 4-0 NACC), who lost just two games the entire match to the Muskies (0-5, 0-5 NACC), are unbeaten through four conference matches for the first time since 2013.

WLC jumped out to a 3-0 lead over LU after winning all three matchups with ease. Sophomores Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) and Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) teamed for an 8-0 blanking at No. 1 doubles. Junior Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and freshman Zadic Torline (Shawnee, Kan.) won at No. 2 doubles, 8-1. At No. 3 doubles, juniors Bryce Halvorsen (Kewaskum, Wis.) and Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) partnered to shutout their opponents, 8-0.

Wisconsin Lutheran dropped just one game during singles competition, coming in Newberg's second set at No. 1 singles. The remaining five positions all finished 6-0, 6-0 as White, Kannenberg, Torline, Halvorsen, and senior Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) all recorded sweeps.

The Warriors travel to De Pere tomorrow for a pivotal NACC match against St. Norbert (7-6, 3-1 NACC). First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Green Bay Tennis Center.
