MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped its first home Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match of the season on Saturday to Benedictine, 3-0, at the Time of Grace Center.
The Warriors (4-11, 0-2 NACC), who played their first home match in nearly a month, fell to the Eagles (8-7, 3-0 NACC) by scores of 25-14, 25-21, and 25-10. WLC fell behind 8-1 in the first set, but battled back to trail just 16-14 before BenUÂ netted the final nine points of the set. Wisconsin Lutheran jumped out to an 11-6 second set lead, but Benedictine scored seven of the next eight and never trailed the remainder of the set. The Warriors hit -.048 in the match with 20 kills, 24 errors, and 84 attempts. Freshman
Marcus Fitzsimmons (Muskego, Wis.) totaled a team-high seven kills for WLC. Sophomore
Jay Thammavongsa (Franklin, Wis.) tallied nine assists. Thammavongsa also led the team with seven digs.
Brannen Almarales registered nine kills and Sanchit Khaitan collected 33 assists for BenU, which hit .329 with 40 kills, 12 errors, and 85 attempts.
