MSOE Sweeps NACC Doubleheader From WLC

Engelhardt drives in two runs in game one

GLENDALE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference sweep to Milwaukee School of Engineering by scores of 13-5 and 12-0 on Sunday at MSOE Raiders Stadium.

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead over the Raiders (17-10, 9-7 NACC) in the second inning of the opener on a two-out RBI single from freshman Lucas Oswald (Muskego, Wis.) that plated senior Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.). The Raiders answered with three runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning.

A RBI groundout from Raabe that scored senior Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.) from third made it a 3-2 game in the fourth inning. Three straight two-out hits for MSOE in the fourth gave the home team a 6-2 lead.

WLC got two runs back in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from Dominick that brought home junior Henry Strupp (Watertown, Wis.), and a double from junior Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas) that scored sophomore Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.).

Milwaukee School of Engineering added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth, before Engelhardt singled home Zaccanti for Wisconsin Lutheran's final run of the game in the seventh. The Raiders tacked on three runs in the seventh and another in the eighth for the final tallies of the game.

Strupp, Zaccanti, and Engelhardt had two hits each for the Warriors, with Engelhardt driving in two runs and Zaccanti scoring twice.

WLC stranded a pair of runners on base in the first two innings of game two after MSOE plated a first-inning run. Milwaukee School of Engineering scored its second run on a wild pitch in the third, followed by six runs on five hits in the fourth, and four runs off four hits in the fifth.

Freshman Eli Michaelis (Wauwatosa, Wis.) tallied Wisconsin Lutheran's only hit in the nightcap. Senior Glavine Matthes (Appleton, Wis.) tossed an inning-and-a-third of scoreless relief.

The Warriors (3-24, 2-14 NACC) begin a busy seven-game week on Wednesday with a non-conference contest at Elmhurst (13-16). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Butterfield Park. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
