WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College opened its homestand with a bang on Wednesday by blanking Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference foe Concordia Wisconsin 2-0 at Warriors Soccer Field.
The Warriors (3-2-2, 2-1-0 NACC), who defeated the Falcons (3-4-0, 1-2-0 NACC) for the first time at home since 2016, returned to its home turf for the first time since September 3 following a four-game road swing.
WLC wasted little time finding the score column, as freshman
Hector Cervantes (Milwaukee, Wis.) gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 5th minute when his shot from nearly 25 yards out found its way into the bottom left corner of the net. Wisconsin Lutheran, which maintained its one-goal advantage through halftime, out-shot CUW 6-3 in the opening 45 minutes.
The Warriors added some insurance midway through the second half when senior
Ben Meaux (Franklin, Wis.) finished off a loose ball from a corner kick in the 67th minute for the 2-0 lead. WLC out-shot Concordia Wisconsin 9-5 in the second half, with senior
Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) making two saves.
Meaux and senior
Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.) tallied three shots each for Wisconsin Lutheran, which was successful on its only two shots on goal for the game. Galvan recorded his fourth shutout of the season by making a trio of saves.
The Warriors continue their three-game homestand on Saturday when they host Concordia Chicago (0-7-0, 0-3-0 NACC) at 3:30 p.m. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
