WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College played to a scoreless draw with Saint Mary's (Minn.) in its home opener on Sunday at Warriors Soccer Field.
The Warriors (0-0-2), who opened the season with consecutive ties for the first time in program history, played to a scoreless game in their first-ever meeting with the Cardinals (1-0-1).
WLC placed five of its eight first-half shots on target, but was unsuccessful in finding the first score. Senior
Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) stopped a pair of first-half shots.
Wisconsin Lutheran tallied two shots on goal in the second half, and a shot from freshman
Hector Cervantes (Milwaukee, Wis.) sailed just over the crossbar in final minute. Galvan made three more saves in the second half to post the shutout.Â
The Warriors edged SMU 12-11 in the shot count, including 7-5 in shots on frame. Four players tallied two shots apiece for WLC. Galvan finished the match with five saves.
