WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Sophomore
Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) scored all three Wisconsin Lutheran College goals for her third career hat trick in a 3-0 home-opening non-conference win over Martin Luther on Sunday at Warriors Soccer Field.
The Warriors (2-0-0), who started the season with consecutive wins for the first time since 2018, won their third straight in the series with the Knights (0-2-0).Â
Bluhm put WLC on the scoreboard in just the 3rd minute when the first shot attempt of the game found the back of the net, assisted by junior
Jovanka Novakovich (Muskego, Wis.). MLC held a narrow 8-6 shot advantage in the first half, but Wisconsin Lutheran went into intermission holding the one-goal lead.
Bluhm punched through a pair of second-half unassisted goals in the 50th and 54th minute to cap the scoring. The Warriors controlled the majority of play over the final period, out-shooting Martin Luther 12-7.
WLC registered 18 shots in the contest, including eight on target. Bluhm led the team with seven shots. Senior
Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) and freshman
Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.) combined for the shutout in net. Casimir made four saves in just over 75 minutes of action.
Wisconsin Lutheran remains home on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. non-conference contest against Lawrence (1-1-0). Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
