Resilient Warriors Battle Lawrence To Draw

WLC remains unbeaten by erasing pair of deficits

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College remained unbeaten through three games for the first time since 2014 following a 2-2 non-conference draw with Lawrence on Tuesday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (2-0-1), who snapped a four-game losing streak to the Vikings (1-1-1), overcame a pair of one-goal deficits for their first stalemate of the season.

LU struck first in the 9th minute of the first half with an unassisted goal from Hannah Kalt. WLC evened the match 10 minutes later when senior Katie Wasiak (Muskego, Wis.) netted her first goal of the season after her shot ricocheted off the hand of a leaping goalkeeper, hit the cross bar, and bounced in the net.

Kalt collected her second unassisted goal of the game in the 40th minute to give Lawrence a 2-1 halftime edge.

Two minutes into the second half, sophomore Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) finished a loose ball in the box for her conference-leading fifth goal of the season. Both teams managed just one shot on target the rest of the match, and the contest ended in a 2-2 tie.

Wisconsin Lutheran was out-shot 25-16 and was on the short end of a 7-1 corner kick differential. Bluhm and junior Adlin Sanchez Cordero (Milwaukee, Wis.) tied a team-high with five shots apiece. Senior Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) made seven saves.

The Warriors continue their homestand on Sunday when they host Mount Mary (1-2-0) for a 1 p.m. non-conference contest at Warriors Soccer Field. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
