LISLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College battled Benedictine to a 0-0 draw on Saturday at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex.
The Warriors (7-3-2, 3-2-2 NACC), who extended their unbeaten streak to four games, posted their first 0-0 stalemate since October 15, 2002.
WLC was narrowly out-shot 4-3 in the first half by the Eagles, who tallied all three of their shots on goal for the game in the opening 45 minutes. Freshman
Emily Comaris (Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded Wisconsin Lutheran's lone shot on frame in the 27th minute, but was saved by BenU keeper Katherine Prochnow.
The Warriors controlled the run of play in the second half, out-shooting Benedictine 9-1, including 5-0 on target. Freshman
Alaena Zastrow (De Pere, Wis.) was one of five WLC players to post a shot on goal in the final period, including a pair of scoring chances that were thwarted in the final six minutes.Â
Wisconsin Lutheran controlled the final shot count 12-5 over the Eagles. Comaris collected a match-high four shots, while Zastrow added three. Freshman
Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) made three saves en route to recording her first career shutout.
Prochnow finished with six saves for BenU (0-9-5, 0-4-3 NACC).
