WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw with St. Norbert on Wednesday at Warriors Soccer Field, picking up a point in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings.
The Warriors (7-3-3, 3-2-3 NACC), who extended their unbeaten streak to five matches, earned a point for just the second time in 11 all-time meetings with the Green Knights.
SNC struck early in just the 8th minute of the match when Abby Thompson finished a cross pass from Emilie Harwood into the bottom left corner.
WLC made the most of its only shot on goal in the first half coming in the 34th minute. Freshman
Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.) received a pass inside the box from freshman
Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.) who finished for her eighth goal of the season. It marked the 12th time this year that the freshmen combo has either scored or assisted for each other.Â
The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 the rest of the way. Despite St. Norbert out-shooting Wisconsin Lutheran 24-8, freshman
Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) made a season-high 12 saves. Shade, who led the Warriors with three shots, registered the team's second scoring chance in the 68th minute of the second half.Â
Both teams tallied five corner kicks and fouls went in favor of the Green Knights, 10-2.Â
Thompson totaled a match-high six shots for SNC (5-7-1, 4-3-1 NACC).Â
