Warriors' Five-Match Unbeaten Streak Snapped By Stars

DU breaks scoreless contest with two second-half goals

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College had its five-match unbeaten streak snapped by Dominican on Saturday, falling 2-0 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contest at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (7-4-3, 3-3-3 NACC) held the Stars scoreless through the opening 45 minutes of play. Despite being out-shot 5-0, sophomore goalkeeper Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.) made a trio of first-half saves for WLC.

DU broke the scoreless match in the 70th minute on Lauren Mack's first goal of the season. Six minutes later, Sarah Matuszek gave Dominican a 2-0 advantage with her second goal of the year assisted by Meghan Wilhite. WLC made a late flurry with all four of its shots on goal coming in the final 13 minutes, but they would be turned away by Stars' goalkeeper Sarah Grimmett.

Wisconsin Lutheran was out-shot 17-4 by DU, which also tallied all eight corner kicks in the match. Freshmen Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.), Alaena Zastrow (De Pere, Wis.), Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.), and Emily Comaris (Milwaukee, Wis.) each registered a shot on goal for the Warriors. Street tied a season high with seven saves.

Matuszek collected a match-high five shots for Dominican (8-5-2, 7-1-1 NACC). Grimmett finished with four saves.

The Warriors play their final three regular season contests on the road, beginning Wednesday with a 6 p.m. NACC matchup at Aurora (2-10-3, 1-5-3 NACC). Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
