Ella Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo.) netted the game-tying goal in the 63rd minute to send Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 1-1 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tie with Aurora on Wednesday at Spartan Athletic Park.
The Warriors (7-4-4, 3-3-4 NACC), who came away with their program-record fourth tie of the season, fell behind 1-0 in the 6th minute on a goal from the Spartans' Kyra Karrer, assisted by Lauren Bliefernicht and Emma Delgado. WLC placed three of its five shots on goal in the first half, but the score remained 1-0 in favor of AU at halftime.
Miller evened the match in the 63rd minute when she ripped a shot from 35 yards out into the top right corner for her fourth goal of the season. Wisconsin Lutheran dominated the second half, outshooting Aurora 17-5, including 9-2 in shots on target, but was unable to come through with a go-ahead goal.
The Warriors doubled-up the Spartans in the final shot count, 22-11. AU held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks and an 8-3 margin in fouls. Freshman
Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.) led WLC with a match-high four shots. Sophomore
Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.) made four saves.
Bliefernicht tallied four shots for Aurora (2-10-4, 1-5-4 NACC), while Melina Cane made 12 saves.Â
