WLC Battles First-Place Edgewood To Scoreless Draw

Warriors hold opponent scoreless for seventh time in 2024

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference-leading Edgewood on Saturday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (7-2-2, 3-0-2 NACC), who recorded their third straight shutout and seventh of the season, improved on their best start in program history through 11 games.

Despite being out-shot 12-1 in the first half by the Eagles, who came in averaging over 4.2 goals per game, WLC senior Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) made six saves to keep the match scoreless at halftime.

Wisconsin Lutheran's defense remained steadfast in the second half, allowing just four shots, including one on target. Senior Titus Kostrzewa (Wauwatosa, Wis.) provided the Warriors with a scoring opportunity in the 61st minute, but his shot into the bottom right corner was saved.

WLC was out-shot 16-3, with shots coming from Kostrzewa, senior Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.), and sophomore Andrew King (East Moline, Ill.). Galvan made a season-high seven saves to earn his third shutout of the season.

Miguel Konde Gwo recorded a match-high six shots for EC (9-1-2, 4-0-1 NACC), which won the corner kick (7-1) and foul (14-13) count.
