OLIVET, Mich. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College split a non-conference doubleheader with the University of Olivet on Saturday, winning the opener 3-1 before falling 3-1 in the finale at Cutler Event Center.
The Warriors (1-10) dropped the opening set 25-17 to the Comets (3-12), but strung together three consecutive set victories by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-20. WLC recorded a season-high 42 kills against 22 errors and 124 attempts for a .161 hitting percentage in the opener.
Sophomore
Drew Wempner (West Allis, Wis.) registered a season-high 11 kills and junior
James Biedenbender (La Crosse, Wis.) tallied a career-high 29 assists. Sophomore
Trevor Salutric (Lockport, Ill.) set a season-high with 13 digs. Freshman
Sean Kane (Tinley Park, Ill.) had a season-high six of the team's program record-tying 18 block assists.Â
Quinn Dickerson tallied a match-high 15 kills for UO, which also had 42 kills against 34 errors and 129 attempts for .062 hitting percentage.
In the later match, Olivet took the opening set 25-19 before Wisconsin Lutheran evened things up with a 25-23 victory. The Comets took a pair of narrowly decided sets 25-23 to salvage the split. The Warriors hit .134 behind 35 kills, 19 errors, and 119 attempts.
Kane amassed a program-record .520 hitting percentage with a season-high 13 kills against zero errors on 25 attempts.
Drew Wempner finished with eight kills, while senior
Chris Mann (Laveen, Ariz.) had seven. Biedenbender notched his second double-double in as many days with 29 assists and 10 digs. Salutric also tallied 10 digs. Senior
Grant Wempner (Garden Grove, Calif.) recorded a career-high six block assists, while Kane collected five of his own.
Dickerson led three players in double digit kills for UO with 16. Olivet hit .224 with 61 kills, 28 errors, and 147 attempts.
