Warriors Drop Non-Conference Doubleheader At Chicago

Krieser leads WLC with three hits

CHICAGO, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College traveled to the University of Chicago on Thursday for its final non-conference doubleheader of the season at Stagg Field. The Maroons swept both games from the Warriors by 10-2 and 11-3.

UC (17-8) scored four first-inning runs, three unearned, on three hits for an early lead in game one. WLC (9-19) cut the deficit in half in the fourth with two runs. Freshman Julianna Alloy (Harrison Township, Mich.) reached on an error that allowed senior Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) to score. Junior Olivia Krieser (Stoughton, Wis.) followed three batters later with a RBI single that plated freshman Madison Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.). Chicago tallied a single run in the fourth, three in the fifth, and two more in the sixth for the game one win. Martin, Alloy, and Krieser had a hit each for Wisconsin Lutheran in the opener.

The Maroons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two with a single run in the first and three in the second. The Warriors broke through with a run in the fourth on Alloy's RBI groundout that scored junior Jackey Farias (San Diego, Calif.). UC added a run in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI infield single for a four-run advantage. WLC climbed within two runs in the fifth when senior Maddy Chestolowski (Appleton, Wis.) drew a bases loaded walk and freshman Alea Anhalt (Fond du Lac, Wis.) crossed home on a wild pitch. Chicago struck for four runs in the bottom of the fifth and closed out the game in the sixth with two more tallies. Anhalt and Krieser collected two hits apiece in game two for Wisconsin Lutheran, which left eight runners on base. Four other Warriors had one hit.

WLC travels to Rosemont, Illinois on Saturday for a NACC doubleheader with No. 21 Dominican (26-2, 11-1 NACC). First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
