Wisconsin Lutheran Drops Senior Day DH To Falcons

Eight seniors honored between games

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College capped off a stretch of eight games in six days on Sunday by suffering a Senior Day sweep to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference foe Concordia Wisconsin at Neumann Family Field. The Warriors fell to the Falcons by scores of 6-0 and 11-5.

WLC (9-23, 5-11 NACC) and CUW (15-9, 9-3 NACC) squared off in a game one pitchers duel, as senior Kacey Mietsner (Elwood, Ill.) tossed four straight scoreless frames to open the game. Concordia Wisconsin cracked the scoring column in the top of the fifth with a two-out RBI single for a 1-0 lead. Two innings later, the Falcons struck for five runs on six hits to break open a tight game. Senior Ashley Corley (Plainfield, Ill.) collected Wisconsin Lutheran's only hit in the opener.

Following a scoreless first inning of game two, CUW plated three runs in the second on three hits for the early lead. The Warriors got a run back in the bottom of the inning when sophomore Emily Cardenas' (Lake Stevens, Wash.) sacrifice fly to right scored freshman Alea Anhalt (Fond du Lac, Wis.). Concordia Wisconsin scored twice in the fourth and fifth and tacked on three more in the sixth for a nine-run lead. Cardenas came through with a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth that plated senior Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) and junior Olivia Krieser (Stoughton, Wis.). WLC answered a seventh-inning Falcons run with a two-RBI single from Anhalt in the last at-bat that brought home Corley and Martin.

Anhalt finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, a run, and a walk, while Martin went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk. Cardenas collected three RBI.

Wisconsin Lutheran honored its eight seniors during a between-game ceremony. They included Maddy Chestolowski (Appleton, Wis.), Corley, Chloe De Leon (Northbrook, Ill.), Kyla Elliott (Chicago, Ill.), Addison Gelande (Port Byron, Ill.), Martin, Mietsner, and Briana Vilches (Fontana, Calif.).
