WLC Drops Doubleheader To NACC-Leading MSOE

Warriors will celebrate Senior Day on Friday

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader to league-leading Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday by scores of 17-3 and 10-2 at Neumann Family Field.

MSOE (23-11, 17-5 NACC) got out to an early lead by plating three runs in the top of the first inning of game one. They added two runs in both the second and third inning and four more in the top of the fourth to take an 11-0 lead. WLC (9-29, 3-19 NACC) cracked the scoring column in the bottom of the fourth as sophomore Lucas Oswald (Muskego, Wis.) smacked a two-run double, scoring freshman Colt Ratliff (Oxford, Ga.) and senior Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas). Senior Henry Strupp (Watertown, Wis.) later drove in Oswald with a single to left, but Wisconsin Lutheran was unable to plate any more runs, as the Raiders scored six runs over two of the final three innings.

Seven different Warriors tallied a hit in the opener and Oswald drove in a pair of runs.

Milwaukee School of Engineering kept the scoring going in game two, plating a pair of runs in the first and three more in the fourth. WLC got on the board in the bottom of fifth. Freshman Ian Rintelman (Muskego, Wis.) drove in sophomore Kason McFadden (Sachse, Texas) with a grounder to third, and junior Nolan Hodgins (Caledonia, Wis.) drove in freshman Aiden Montgomery (St. Louis, Mo) with a sacrifice fly to right field. MSOE scored four more runs in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.

Montgomery and junior Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.) each tallied two hits for Wisconsin Lutheran, as Rintelman and Hodgins drove in the lone runs.

The Warriors remain home on Friday for a season finale Senior Day doubleheader against Marian (22-14, 15-7 NACC). First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Neumann Family Field. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
